How do you think online dating has changed the way people meet and form relationships? Do you think it's increased or diminished the superficial emphasis placed on looks and financial status?
I think it has definitely diminished the emphasis on looks and financial status. My husband and I met online and our relationship consisted of mostly online communication for almost 15 months. We really like how our relationship developed because we got to know everything about each other without the more superficial stuff being a distraction. For example, if we had two hours to spend "with" each other, we made the most of that time getting to know each other.
Of course online dating can go wrong, just like face to face dating, but if the people involved are patient and honest with each other there's no reason it shouldn't work.
